About CurrPorts
## cports
CurrPorts is network monitoring software that displays the list of all currently opened TCP/IP and UDP
ports on your local computer.
For each port in the list, information about the process that opened the port is also displayed,
including the process name, full path of the process, version information of the process (product name,
file description, and so on), the time that the process was created, and the user that created it.
In addition, CurrPorts allows you to close unwanted TCP connections, kill the process that opened the
ports, and save the TCP/UDP ports information to HTML file , XML file, or to tab-delimited text file.
CurrPorts also automatically mark with pink color suspicious TCP/UDP ports owned by unidentified
applications (Applications without version information and icons).
### A note on antivirus detections
NirSoft's network/system utilities, including CurrPorts, are commonly flagged by some antivirus engines as "hacktool" or "riskware". This isn't because they contain malware -- it's because their legitimate functionality (inspecting open ports and the processes behind them) overlaps with techniques malware also uses. Nir Sofer (the developer) addresses this directly in an official blog post, ["Antivirus companies cause a big headache to small developers"](https://blog.nirsoft.net/2009/05/17/antivirus-companies-cause-a-big-headache-to-small-developers/) -- see also the ongoing discussion thread underneath it, and the [full "Antivirus Issues" category](https://blog.nirsoft.net/category/antivirus-issues/) on his blog for further documented cases. NirSoft states its utilities are clean and recommends reporting the detection to your antivirus vendor as a false positive.
