About Fira Code Font

Fira Code is an extension of the Fira Mono font containing a set of ligatures for common programming multi-character combinations.

This is just a font rendering feature: underlying code remains ASCII-compatible.

This helps to read and understand code faster. For some frequent sequences like .. or //, ligatures allow us to correct spacing.

Note: please close all applications that are using FiraCode (eg. vscode) before upgrade.

How to install Fira Code Font

  1. Click Download — the developer's official website opens in a new tab.
  2. Download the latest version there and run it. Choose Custom/Advanced where offered, and skip any bundled extras.
  3. Prefer the command line? With Chocolatey you can install and update it with: choco install fira-code-font
  4. Open Fira Code Font once it finishes installing.
