### About Poppins

Poppins is a geometric sans serif typeface designed by Indian Type Foundry, Jonny Pinhorn, and Ninad Kale. Geometric sans serif typefaces have been a popular design tool ever since these actors took to the world's stage, and Poppins is one of the newcomers to this long tradition. With support for the Devanagari and Latin writing systems, it is an internationalist take on the genre.

Many of the Latin glyphs (such as the ampersand) are more constructed and rationalist than is typical. The Devanagari design is particularly new, and is the first ever Devanagari typeface with a range of weights in this genre. Just like the Latin, the Devanagari is based on pure geometry, particularly circles.

The family ships 18 static font files spanning weights from Thin (100) to Black (900) in both upright and italic styles.

### Source & versioning

Font files are sourced from the official Google Fonts repository at [github.com/google/fonts/tree/main/ofl/poppins](https://github.com/google/fonts/tree/main/ofl/poppins) at a pinned commit SHA (recorded in `tools\VERIFICATION.txt` along with SHA256 checksums for every embedded `.ttf`). The package version (e.g. `4.0.3`) tracks the upstream foundry's release tag at [itfoundry/Poppins](https://github.com/itfoundry/Poppins): `vN.MMM` is mapped to `N.M.PP` semver (e.g. upstream `v4.003` → package `4.0.3`).
