# What is SaltStack ?

`SaltStack` is a revolutionary approach to infrastructure management that replaces complexity with speed.

`SaltStack` is simple enough to get running in minutes, scalable enough to manage tens of thousands of servers, and fast enough to communicate with each system in seconds.

# The Salt-Minion

The `Salt-Minion` receives commands from the central `Salt-Master` and replies with the results of said commands.

The `Salt-Minion` needs the `Salt-Master` to run correctly.

# Package Parameters

The following package parameters can be set:

* `/Python2` - No longer supported by SaltStack. Will be removed in future version of the package.

* `/Master:[master]` - A string value to set the IP address or hostname of the Salt-Master. _original installer value: `/master=`_

* `/MinionName:[minion-name]` - A string value to set the Salt-Minion name. _original installer value: `/minion-name=`_

* `/MinionStart:[minion-start]` - 1 to start the service, else 0. _original installer value: `/start-minion=`_

* `/MinionStartDelayed` - Present to have delay start. _original installer value: `/start-minion-delayed`_

* `/DefaultConfig` - Present to overwrite the existing config file with the default. _original installer value: `/default-config`_

* `/CustomConfig:[config-path]` - Full path to a custom config file. _original installer value: `/custom-config=`_

To pass parameters, use `--params "''"` (e.g. `choco install saltminion [other options] --params="'/Master:myMaster /Python2'"`).

To have choco remember parameters on upgrade, be sure to set `choco feature enable -n=useRememberedArgumentsForUpgrades`.
